New Businesses Coming to Downtown Harrisonburg

HARRISONBURG -- The Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance Committee announced that seven new businesses are coming to the downtown area this year.

The committee met with downtown business owners and city officials Monday night to share their progress..

They say downtown Harrisonburg added 32 businesses in the last year, including restaurants, stores and new offices.

The Director of Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance, Eddie Bumbaugh, said he's excited that the area is growing. He also said this will improve the local economy, which will help everyone in Harrisonburg.

"I think success brings success and if you have additional businesses, the existing businesses also benefit by having downtown become more of a shopping and dining destination," Bumbaugh said.

Bumbaugh said some of the new businesses include: a boutique, an outfitters store, and a massage spa. He also said there are many other new projects in the works for downtown this year too.
