Turning on 2-Step Verification: Google and Facebook

This extra security measure helps to ensure only you have access to your personal information.

When a Google or Facebook user enables this security measure, it will require a phone with text messaging capability. Everytime a user logs into the account from an unsaved device, a special code will be texted to the phone. The user has to enter that code at the time of signing in to access the account.

This is an important tool to protect these accounts because only the user of the account will have access to those text messages.

You can get instructions for how to turn this on for Facebook here: Facebook Extra Security Measures and Google here: About 2-Step Verification.
