August 18, 2010 - Dreary Wednesday

An uncharacteristic August day for us on Wednesday with temperatures in the 70's and overcast skies.

As many children start school Wednesday, or continue on with the school year today, the clouds will hang low with temperatures struggling to reach 80 degrees.

A brief break in the rain can be expected in the mid morning hours, with another batch of rain making its way through the southern Valley by the late morning. Most thunderstorm activity should remain to our south - closer to Roanoke and the Virginia/North Carolina state line.

Unfortunately showers are in the forecast through the evening hours, therefore bring the umbrella as you head out to the Rockingham County Fair this evening. Clouds will gradually clear out late Wednesday through early Thursday, with mostly sunny skies expected by Thursday afternoon and temperatures returning to more seasonal levels.

The 90's return briefly for Friday along with abundant sunshine, but clouds roll back in for Saturday and Sunday with more August-like weather for our next work week.
