Dry weather is the big story as more than half of the viewing area remains under a severe drought according to the US Drought Monitor. A weak cold front is scheduled to move through early Wednesday with little, if any rainfall for the Valley. Western slopes of the higher elevations may receive a sprinkle.
The cold front will drop temperatures, bringing another taste of fall to the Valley for the end of the week. Another chance of scattered showers returns to the forecast this weekend, but not enough to make a dent in the deficit.
Onto the tropics now, Hermine will move through central Texas and eventually into Oklahoma and Kansas. The remnants will likely dissipate before making it to the East Coast. This coming weekend marks the peak of hurricane season, and while it seems as though the tropics are calming down post-Hermine, computer models indicate otherwise. Another parade of storms are forecast to move off the Africa coast beginning this weekend and lasting into next week.
Stay tuned (of course) to TV 3 for the latest updates on our weather and the tropics.
