September 10, 2010 - Farmer's Almanac Says Cold & Snowy Winter 2011

While we stay comfortable Friday, the both Farmer's Almanacs have predicted a cold winter to come, thought they differ on the amounts of snow. Read all about it in today's blog!

We're still technically in summer, but fall is around the corner. Which means that winter has started to come back into the mind of everyone, especially after last year's record setting snowfall. The Farmer's Almanac (and the Old Farmer's Almanac) have agreed on a cold winter (below average temperatures) but differ with the snowfall amounts. One says that we'll have average snowfall and the other mentions above average snowfall but not as bad as last winter.

With that in mind, the Climate Prediction Center completely disagrees with this forecast and is going for above average temperatures for the December-February period.

We'll be in a weak La Nina phase for this winter - I'll write more on what that typically brings us that in my next blog!
