Some snowfall totals from around the area and what you can expect for the rest of your Friday.

2:00pm Update:

This is just the beginning everyone - moderate snow continues to fall Friday afternoon. Temperatures in the northern Valley are above freezing, which is preventing snow from actually sticking to some roadways and sidewalks. Southern Valley temperatures have started to decrease as heavier snow moves into the region.

The heaviest snow looks to enter the reason around 7pm Friday and last through 4am Saturday. The majority of our accumulation will come during this time period as snowfall rates approach 3" per hour. Lighter snow will resume Saturday morning with some more moderate snow possible late Saturday morning.

We received a message from the National Weather Service urging residents not to drive until the storm exits and crews clear up the roads. Conditions will get about as bad as they can in winter weather overnight Friday. If you must venture out, be sure to carry a travel emergency kit with you on the roadways, along with a blanket, food and water. Should you lose power and use a generator, make sure there is proper ventilation.

I'll have one more update later this evening before calling it a night (so I can be up early for all your Saturday morning weather updates!) with a last look at the forecast and snowfall totals. We're still looking at over 20 inches in most areas, with up to 30 inches possible. Be safe if you have to go outside and while shoveling - this is a very heavy, wet snow.

Here's a look at the snowfall totals called in for our Noon show:
