We didn't hit 100 at the station in Harrisonburg yesterday but SHD did hit 100 degrees and stayed there for several hours. Another day of 100 degree heat is expected today, and that would break our record high of 99 degrees. We will see!
A Heat Advisory remains in effect for Shenandoah, Page, Warren, Clarke, and Frederick counties until 11 p.m. Wednesday evening for temperatures near 100 degrees and heat indicies around 105 degrees. Please stay cool and hydrated if you have to work outside Wednesday!
As a weak low pressure moves to our southeast and then to our south tomorrow, we'll crank up the dewpoint (and humidity) slightly. The increased moisture will allow us to (hopefully) pop up some showers and thunderstorms Thursday afternoon - but the better chance will be Friday and Saturday as a weak cold front moves through the region.
We'll have minimal relief on Saturday and Sunday with temperatures in the mid 80's, with a return to the 90's expected for the middle of next week.
Remember to avoid caffeinated and alcoholic drinks on days like these - they dehydrate you more! Drink plenty of water, take frequent breaks, and visit the air conditioning as much as you can!
