July felt a little hotter than usual and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. Turns out that we had 17 days of 90+ degree heat and a stretch of 14 consecutive days where the temperature stayed above 85 degrees. We can calculate averages on Sunday when the month is officially over. Our average number of 90+ degree days is seven.
We broke one record high in Harrisonburg (although it felt like we broke more than that!) and tied one record high July 23 & 24 - one of the hottest weekends of the year.
While we have relief on Friday and portions of Saturday, it won't stay long. By Sunday the humidity will return, with the 90's returning for the middle of next week.
As we move closer to the peak of hurricane season, the Atlantic basin looks to be waking up again. Two areas of interest have caught the National Hurricane Center's eye and we'll keep you updated on further developments.
Otherwise, enjoy Friday and have a great weekend!
