April 20, 2011 - Mother Nature Is Confused

Are you ready for the next roller coaster ride of weather? How about a 30-40 degree temperature drop from Wednesday to Friday...? Yep - that's in the forecast - read all about it in today's blog!

I feel like we're bouncing more between March and July than actually being in the month of April. Wednesday's highs will be in the 80's with mostly cloudy skies and some isolated showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon as a cold front comes through. Some storms may be strong to severe, but more widespread storm generation will be east of the Blue Ridge.

Thursday is going to be a beautiful day - mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low to mid 60's as highs. Unfortunately this is going to be the only nice day of the forecast period.

Our old friend cold air damming returns for Friday, bringing a cold rain on the way to the Valley. We'll have temperatures struggling to make it through the 40's, and even a rain/snow mix for the highest elevations to our west. See what I mean about repeatedly switching between March and July?

CAD will erode Friday evening and we'll warm up to the 70's by Saturday. Scattered showers and storms will stay in the forecast through the middle of next week.
