Foliage Report:10/10

Here is this week's foliage report.

The color is really starting to pick up now as we head towards the middle of October. The best places to see brightest colors is still along the west virginiia mountains.
According to spotters with the foliage network.. peak colors have arrived in the mountains of west virginia. Most of this is along the spruce knob and mount storm areas.

The rest of the highlands throughout the area is approching peak... And there is some beautiful color.
Here are some pictures i took from highland county this weekend... West of monterey is at peak, but color is still developing east.
What we're also seeing is a lot of leaf droppage already mainly due to the dry weather then the wind and rain.
So the weather today isn't helping. .
Even with many leaves fallen, the colors are still vibrant.
In most areas of the valley we're seeing some bright coloring, but it's very spotty.
Most of the leaves are still green.
If you want to take a great drive this weekend?
I reccommend route 250 through highland county. The west virginia department of forestry reccommends rt 33 through circleville to randolph county, or route 220 through hardy county and even into berkely springs.
