January 20, 2011 - Friday Snow = Minimal, Another Storm Next Week

We aren't expecting too much snow as we go through Friday because of the mountainside - read all about it in today's blog!

Here's an early bird blog entry for everyone before they head out the door this morning. Not too much has changed in the forecast for Friday.

The issue with this system is that we don't have an additional moisture connection or energy connection to make this system a little stronger as it heads over the Allegheny Front. We're taking a swath of snow that's oriented SW to NE and throwing it into a parallel mountainside. Expect some snow shower activity from about 11pm-3am in the Valley, adding up to a dusting to *maybe* an inch in areas closer to the mountainsides. Higher elevations to the west may pick up to 2-4", especially the western slopes of the highlands.

Sunshine returns by lunch time on Friday and we're expecting temperatures to remain rather low as cold air rushes back into the Valley. Clouds move back in for Saturday as an upper level disturbance moves overhead but no precipitation is expected. Cold air stays with us all the way through the weekend. Our next storm system moves in Monday night...could be another wintry mess!
