March 29, 2011 - That Silly Groundhog

While Phil may have been correct about an early spring, I don't recall him saying anything about winter returning for late March and early April....

While I know the 7-day looks scary, it's not as bad as it looks - for now.

I'll preface this with the fact that models are ALL OVER THE PLACE from the Wednesday night time period through Saturday. We have anything from an all out snowstorm (coastal low) to lingering clouds.

Right now, I would prepare to see some snow on Wednesday. Temperatures will move above freezing throughout the day and that will limit accumulation. However before sunrise and after sunset, minor accumulation is possible, mainly on grassy surfaces. Therefore some slick spots early Wednesday and early Thursday morning are possible.
Accumulation wise, I'd be surprised to see more than an inch in the Valley (a coating here or there is more likely), higher elevations may be able to pick up 1-2". Keep in mind with temperatures above freezing, we're going to have a hard time accumulating snow, especially after highs in the 50's on Tuesday.

Thursday night into Friday morning is an interesting time period. The models are in complete disagreement with how a coastal low is going to form and move along along the coast. Of course this needs to be monitored very closely.

For now, we'll worry about Wednesday and hopefully we can shed more light on Thursday & Friday later today.
