The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition says there's a renewed interest in biking because of high gas prices. If you've filled up your car with gas recently, you may think your old dusty bicycle is looking pretty good nowadays.

SVBC has another reason to start cycling again. On Saturday, they will open three miles of trails in Hillendale Park, just for beginners. They say it's all part of Harrisonburg becoming a more bike-friendly place.

"Previously, it was just the national forest, which was long climbs, lots of rocks, a long drive and now kids and beginners to mountain biking can go to Hillendale, in town, bike there and try their skills out and improve on the trails there," says SVBC Member Kyle Lawrence.

You could call it a two wheel revolution where people are using their bikes to get around town because of high gas prices. It's because of those fuel costs, Lawrence says he's seen a renewed interest in bikes.
