Gypsy Hill Park was filled with local teens on Friday, enjoying the spring weather and searching to win some prizes.

The Central Shenandoah Valley Office on Youth and the United Way held a free teen scavenger hunt event. The teens who gathered all the scavenger answers got gifts.

Other parts of the event included horseshoes, volleyball, frisbee throwing, and snacks.

"They're nice," says sixth-grader Monica Carter, about the teen events. "It's fun."

"Our key thing is to provide activities for the youth that would keep them off the streets, keep them out of trouble," says Tammy Zirkle, a coordinator of the event.

The Office on Youth is also sponsoring a pool party and battle of the bands in the coming months.
