The annual Toy Convoy kicked off Tuesday.

Shopping carts full of toys were purchased and will be given out by the Salvation Army to the less fortunate of the Valley.

Nelson Swartz with the Harrisonburg Auto Mall and Leroy Wilkerson with Mountain Valley Burger King donated $5,000 each.

"We think because of the economy the way it is, in the world and the country and the need is out here, especially the children, anytime of the year, but surely this time of the year we need to help," says Swartz.

The money was used to buy toys at Kmart in Harrisonburg and Waynesboro.
