Shenandoah Elementary School received a $1,000 grant Tuesday morning as part of the recently renamed Project 3 through which local businesses, schools and WHSV TV3 combine for educational projects in the Valley.
This month's winning project was submitted by Nurse Practitioner Diana Oddenino.
She will work with Shenandoah Elementary to provide a health education program for fourth and fifth graders.
"I work at a health center right down the street from Shenandoah Elementary School and I take care of a lot of children who are obese and overweight and lead a very sedentary lifestyle," explains Oddenino. "And I see the health consequences of this and that was my motivation."
February's grant was funded by Merck and TV3.
