Harrisonburg schools start this coming Monday and parents say they are worried about the amount of money schools have to work with.
They met with Superintendent Dr. Scott Kizner Wednesday night at Thomas Harrison Middle School.
He held his first informal discussion with parents about several topics.
Many parents wanted to know how funding cuts were affecting the classroom.
"We'd love it if there were more funds spent on our children's education and more teachers and more resources. Sure we'd like that, but everybody's working on tight budgets these days, so we're happy to see that we're doing everything we can with the monies we have," said Michele Cavoto.
Kizner says for those parents who weren't able to make it to the event, he will be answering their questions by email or phone.
