There are more than 100 homeless children in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, and a task force is working to lower that number.

Michael Wong, executive director of the Harrisonburg Redevelopment and Housing Authority, updated county leaders Wednesday on efforts to end homelessness in the next 10 years.

Wong says they have identified 70 homeless children in Harrisonburg, and 54 in Rockingham County.

The task force is working on a pilot program to get them in stable housing.
