The Harrisonburg Salvation Army is working hard to meet the needs of local children.

Those who normally receive a free or reduced price lunch during the school year, may be deprived during the summer months.

That's why organizers are partnering with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank to provide breakfast and/or lunch to children in Harrisonburg.

Last summer the Salvation Army served more than 13,000 lunches from June to August.

The summer lunch program runs Monday through Friday, June 20 through August 12th.

The serving locations include: Spotswood Elementary, Keister Elementary, Waterman Elementary, Stone Spring Elementary, Smithland Elementary, Skyline Middle, Harrisonburg High School and the Salvation Army main location.

Lunch served at Spotswood Elementary from the Canteen and the Salvation Army Center for Worship will be open to the public.

Lunch is served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Spotswood and 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salvation Army.
