Dredging Project to Make VA River Easier to Navigate

The Hampton River will be easier to navigate when a dredging project is completed later this year.

The Daily Press reports that Hampton City Council received an update on the project Wednesday from Ken Dierks with design consultant Kimley-Horn and Associates.

Dierks said the project is about 72 percent complete. Its cost of about $1 million is about a third of original projections.

The project began in October 2010. Dierks said the final phase, marsh restoration, should occur in mid-October.
