Environmental Leaders Gather for VA Symposium

Hundreds of environmental leaders are heading to Lexington this week for the 22nd annual Environment Virginia Symposium.

Sponsors say more than 700 public and private-sector environmental officials are expected for the three-day gathering sponsored by Virginia Military Institute's Center for Leadership and Ethics.

Starting on Tuesday, the symposium will examine issues that include climate change, waste and water management, energy efficiency, conservation and natural resources.

Organizers say the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and the subsequent environmental calamity, are likely to be discussed.

Exhibitors will include more than 50 state and federal agencies, industries and academic organizations.
