Millions of people around the world are celebrating Earth Day, and some in the Valley are trying to find ways to stop global warming.
An open discussion on climate change was held Friday at James Madison University by professors and faculty members.
Panelists shared their opinions of how humans are speeding up the process of global warming, and what we can do to slow it down.
"We're changing the planet and there's some pretty simple things, easy things that we can do that might make the planet more livable. The rate at which we're changing the planet, we probably haven't seen that for as long as humans have existed as a species," says Tony Hartshorn, faculty member in the Geology and Environmental Sciences Department.
One easy solution, Hartshorn says, is to weatherize your home and cut down on heating costs.
