There is good news coming for Harrisonburg bicyclists and those looking to save on gas.

The Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition is looking to make it easier to ride to downtown Harrisonburg by installing several new bike racks.

The grant-funded program will help pay the costs of installing the racks for five lucky businesses the coalition will select.

One member believes the program will help commuters and shoppers save time and money.

"Providing opportunities for people to ride to work or ride to a place to do business is a lot less expensive than providing a car space and people provided [the space] will notice it's usually actually quicker," says coalition member Thomas Jenkins.

The coalition will take applications through June 15 and will announce the winners a month later.

The application and more information about the program can be found at the SVBC website.
