Toy Convoy Kick-Off

Preparations are underway for the Salvation Army's Toy Convoy, which provides Christmas toys for needy children within Augusta and Rockingham counties.

People involved in the fundraiser started picking out toys last week after two generous donations totaling $10,000.

The seed money was given by the two major sponsors: Charlie Obaugh Auto Group and Mountain Valley Burger King.

Leroy Wilkinson, Mountain Valley Burger King, says, "There's a great need in the community for kids. And we've been part of this thing now 11 years. It's like being part of your family. We just all gather here on a certain date. They get to go shop. And we get to enjoy all the hoop-a-la."

To participate, simply buy a new, unwrapped toy and take it to a donation site which will be available the day after Thanksgiving.
