Organizers of the group SAW 2010 gathered in Augusta County Friday to educate teachers on how to spot gang activity in schools.

The event was sponsored by the Staunton Police Department and was held at the Augusta Medical Center. It was intended to inform educators about the latest gangs and gang symbols in the Valley.

The director of SAW 2010, Diane Kellogg, says SAW is planning projects throughout the school year to keep teachers and students on their toes.

Kellogg says, "We're right now in the process of establishing an intervention program to the guidance counselors, seeing what resources the child has around them already and possibly surrounding them with other resources."

The teachers at the gathering were also able to get a glimpse at what types of clothing kids in gangs wear.
