Doctors seem to be seeing a mixed bag of illnesses this week.
In Waynesboro, Dr. Steven Mumbauer with Waynesboro Pediatrics says children are coming to him with colds, strep throat and asthma flares. Mumbauer says the flares are being brought on by viral infections and temperature changes.
In Page County, Dr. Jeffrey Feit wants to remind everybody that as the holiday season gets underway, depression and substance abuse tend to worsen. While many who are depressed feel as though they should "deal with it", Feit says those with severe cases should try to get past the stigma of seeking professional help because medicines can be helpful.
And finally, more than 20,000 children under the age of five are hospitalized as a result of influenza. Tuesday, November 27 is Children's Flu Vaccination Day. The focus is on vaccinating high-risk children. Influenza vaccine is available at your local health department.
