Recycling Cardboard

Augusta County has been recycling for years. But just recently, they've been seeing a positive return on their hard work through more money going to the county.

When residents take things like cardboard to the landfill, the landfill is able to get money back. That money is then handed over to the county for general use.

Officials say cardboard has been gaining value over the last few years, bringing in thousands of dollars to the county. The landfill also benefits from the recycling.

Jerry Martin of the land fill says, "As far as the land fill is concerned, the big savings is in air space. We're saving land fill space that we can use, you know, to put the items that cannot be recycled in."
