Families as far away as Hawaii will be celebrating around Christmas trees from West Virginia this holiday season.
Mason County's Santa's Forest is a cut-your-own Christmas tree farm that used to attract people from all over the state. But since it put its sales operation online, orders have been coming in from all over the country.
Farm owner Luke Wilbur and his wife Jenna Mack bought the farm this year. Their trees are netted, and then boxed in wax-lined cardboard boxes, then shipped by FedEx. Shipping costs for in-state customers are $15, but to get a tree to Hawaii or Alaska, it can cost up to $110.
According to the National Christmas Tree Association, Internet sales accounted for four percent of overall sales last year.
