A Fort Defiance woman is collecting shoes for women in Kenya, and she needs your help.

After visiting the impoverished country, Lynn Dively says she wanted to do something to help the widows who had nothing.

So, she's collecting shoes that she will ship to them. The women there will then open a store and sell the donates shoes in Kenya.

Dively hopes the process will teach the women how to run a small business and she hopes to give them lots of merchandise with which to work.

She says, "We're trying to fill a 20 foot cargo container full, which is a lot of shoes, and good Lord willing, we'll do 40 foot. So which ever is fine but slightly worn or new is great."

If you'd like to help, shoes can be dropped off at Farm Choice in Harrisonburg or Staunton or New Covenant Community Church in Weyers Cave.
