Images from places like Iowa and Oklahoma show businesses closed and sheets of ice on the roads.

Although resident are hoping the Valley won't be as hard hit as the Midwest, it seems this impending winter weather might actually aid businesses in pulling in the holiday cash.

One local retailer, Betty Hinebaugh at Wilson Jewelers, Inc. in Harrisonburg, says they're looking forward to the weather, and says they always do best when there's snow on the ground.

"People like to get out in the snow. We like the snow. It seems more like Christmas than seventy degrees. So we're looking forward to a busy, busy weekend with lots of customers and lots of happy people," says Hinebaugh.

After seeing so many negative images from the destructive weather in the Midwest, it may be nice to see a positive spin on the winter weather.

So although meteorologists are calling for some changes in the skies, remember the area retailers are still expecting plenty of customers this weekend!
