Wintry Blast Aftermath

Driving Sunday proved hazardous at times, not because of the road conditions, but because of all the melting ice falling from power lines and trees. Clearing conditions revealed damage from the wintry blast.

Freezing rain fell into the night and brought down trees across the area, which caused residents in some neighborhoods to lose power. Dawn Taylor is still waiting for her power to be turned on after a tree limb fell the power lines outside her New Market home.

"The limb fell while we were using everything and everything just went down. It was just a big boom," says Taylor.

She heard the branches fall and says she immediately knew what it was.

She adds, "It's just what happens in a storm like this."

Until her power and phone are restored, she depends on the assistance of her neighbors who have offered some help.
