After going undefeated all the way through the championship, Buffalo Gap High School wants to give its football team a permanent memento of a momentous year.
Faculty and staff are teaming up with members of the community to raise money for championship rings.
A committee has been put together to fuel that effort and the school says it's a little more than half way to that goal. So far, they've relied on community events and donations to raise the money.
Gap Athletic Director Tony Ramsey says the players and coaches deserve it.
"I think the community and us as administration here want to just show our return or gratitude to what they've given our school, school spirit," says Ramsey. "And the community has rallied around them here in this area the past week."
The school hopes to meet their goal by January 11.
