A local store owner is doing her part to help those in need this holiday season.
Kathleen Steinhart, the owner of Cranberry's groceries in Staunton, created a giving tree. It's a way for customers to help her donate to the less fortunate.
Along with her customers, she has been collecting food, toys and clothing for people at the Valley Mission, a homeless shelter.
Steinhart began the collection just a week ago, and so far, they've seen a tremendous turnout from the community. Convenience is one reason people are making so many donations.
Employee Jason Welch says, "I guess, for people who might not know where the mission is or have time to drop something off there, they can come here instead."
Cranberry's will continue to take donations through the holidays.
