Hometown Signs

Grant Town is the hometown of football coach Rich Rodriguez, but these days that fact isn't being prominently advertised.

Less than 24 hours after Rodriguez announced he would be leaving West Virginia University for Michigan, Grant Town Mayor Robert Riggs ordered two signs taken down that proclaim the town as the coach's hometown.

Riggs said it's nothing personal, but the signs would likely have been vandalized or stolen if they hadn't been removed.

Last year, when Rodriguez was considering leaving for Alabama, someone stole one of the signs and only returned it after the coach signed a new contract with WVU.

A resident of Grant Town paid for the signs, and Riggs says they'll be returned to that person.
