It's a heartwarming day for thousands of area families giving and receiving items donated through the annual Toy Convoy.
The Salvation Army stocked an entire warehouse with 3000 bags of toys and bikes.
Families in need piled in empty handed but left with grocery carts full of toys and food.
Each child will have two or three toys under the tree this Christmas.
And for all the generous volunteers, today is full of emotion.
"This is the side you wish all the donors could see because they would see the result and they see a family who a couple months ago were at a point of despair, they didn't know what to do, and now they have a Christmas to share as a family," says Captain Gregory Shannon of the Harrisonburg Salvation Army.
Shannon says so often these events result with those getting items turn around and give back to the community in their own way.
Thousands of the toys given out today were thanks to our viewers, who so generously donated to the Toy Convoy drive this month.
