A grocery store that boasts of helping to create a walkable community has now popped up in Fishersville.

Food Lion on Route 250 had its opening celebration Wednesday.

The store was created to have a homelike atmosphere on the inside and out because of its close proximity to neighborhoods.

The store is just a few hundred feet from housing developments and managers say they expect many to walk to the store and they've even received requests to put in bike racks.
