Last Minute Shopping

You may have Monday off, but the day before Christmas is typically anything but relaxing.

So although you may not be headed to work, that doesn't mean you're resting in front of the Television all day either.

Along with traveling, baking and getting the Christmas cards out, last minute shopping is high on a lot of people's To Do lists.

While battling other shoppers for that last Elmo or the perfect sweater probably isn't your idea of holiday fun, experts say it might actually pay to wait this late.

Retailer concerns about slow sales have many stores offering post-holiday discounts to consumers before Christmas even arrives.

"It's not only that it's the last minute to shop. It's the fact that the season has been difficult. So there's a lot of pressure on everybody," says Wendy Liebmann, a retail analyst with WSL.

The pressure is mostly on the retailers, because of a somewhat tight economy situation and numerous recalls. So shoppers have been a little more cautious with their purchases this year.
