With New Year's festivities in full gear Monday, many people will be out looking for a good time, but celebrating doesn't have to include alcohol.

First Night in downtown Harrisonburg provides an alcohol free party with 23 performers and 23 different venues participating.

The events kick off at 6 p.m Monday, and end at midnight with a fireworks display.

Although the event will not sell out, many people have already bought their way in by purchasing their First Night buttons.

"They are on sale at places like the Red Front Supermarket, the Sheetz gas stations. We also have them for sale at various locations downtown also," says Anneliese Moore-Harman, executive assistant at the Gemeinschaft House. "The buttons are $7 per button, and this is for everyone ages five and up. Children five and under are free. Then you just make sure you have them on your clothing, and that will be your ticket into all the venues."

There are eight locations holding First Night celebrations in Virginia, including Harrisonburg, Augusta County, Charlottesville and Winchester.
