Chaz Evans-Haywood will be sworn in Friday as the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County Clerk of Circuit Court.
He will be taking the seat from clerk L. Wayne harper, who has held the office for 28 years.
As he moves into the Clerk's position in January, Evans-Haywood will most likely have new ideas and new policies. But replacing a Clerk who has held office for almost three decades may prove his biggest task, as many wonder whether his position on certain policies will change those that have been in place for so long.
"I think really priority number one has to be addressing the General Assembly's mandate for complete redaction of social security numbers, personal information from the Internet. That was something many of the candidates brought up during the campaign, and I think it's fantastic because it should be of concern to everyone," says Evans-Haywood.
Evans-Haywood begins his eight year term in January. He said he feels confident with the position and is ready to begin.
