A fox killed after it attacked a Henrico County police officer has tested positive for rabies.
Three people in western Henrico were attacked by a fox on Saturday. Two officers investigating the third attack were directed by neighbors to a fox, which ran up one officer's leg. The officer shook it loose and shot and killed the animal.
Henrico police Lieutenant Rick Schurz said police don't know whether the fox that tested positive for rabies is the same fox involved in the three other attacks.
Henrico police Lieutenant John Coover said the attack victims were treated for exposure to the animal and notified of the positive rabies test.
