Hunting Seasons Change Over

West Virginia's final deer and bear hunting seasons end Monday. Firearms hunting for bear will remain open through the day, as will bow hunting for white-tail deer.

Despite the closure, hunters still have several other lesser game animals to pursue.

Squirrel season runs through January 31, 2008 and raccoon season closes February 29, as do seasons for rabbits and ruffed grouse. Pheasant season closes next Saturday, while duck hunting continues through January 26. Canada goose season runs until January 31.

Several other species also are available. Details can be found in the Department of Natural Resources regulations.
