A woman in Albemarle County has been asked to get rid of dozens on dogs she has rescued.
The woman, Ellen Hawkins, has rescued more than 30 dogs, including seven puppies. All of the dogs live on her one-acre lot.
Neighbors have been complaining about the bad smell and the noise. The county sent a notice in October about the complaints, but Hawkins appealed the complaints Tuesday night at the zoning meeting.
The board decided Hawkins can keep eight dogs, which she has had as pets for an extended time. She will have to get rid of the others.
