The Augusta County Sheriff's office is dealing with a case of stolen electronics. A business on Bunker Hill Road in Mount Solon reported that someone stole a TV, a stereo and some speakers on Sunday. Those stolen items are worth $1,400.
Also in Augusta County, the sheriff's office says a thief made off with a safe, a jar of pennies, and some knives. Those items were taken from a home on Freeport Lane, off Route 250 just east of Staunton.
In the City of Staunton itself, the police department is investigating two cases of stolen vehicles. Both were taken earlier this week, one from Lincoln Lane and the other from Richmond Avenue.
In Shenandoah County, the sheriff's office has arrested a man they say was trying to skip town in another person's car. Deputies say Benjamin Martel, who is from out of state, took a 2006 Chevy Cobalt from an acquaintance in Strasburg. The next day, Martel got in an accident in that car in Fauquier County.
Martel was sent to the hospital in critical condition, but after two weeks of recovering, he was well enough to be released and immediately arrested last Thursday.
In Rockingham County the America One Realty company says someone stole their sign in Elkton. The sign was at a house on Monger Hill Road, and it was stolen on December 28 or 29.
If you have any information about these ongoing investigations, you are encouraged to call your local police department or sheriff's office.
