Immigration Workshop

A handful of local immigrants gathered in Waynesboro Friday night to learn about becoming a U.S. citizen.

The Waynesboro Public Library hosted a presentation by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The workshop taught about the laws, resources, and procedures involved in gaining citizenship. They also showed a DVD about the history and significance of immigration in this country.

"I have been a resident in this country for 17 years, a permanent resident," says Daniel Sanchez, who attended the workshop. "I tried to come here for citizenship. That's what I came here tonight to learn something about."

The library is also offering a toolkit for citizenship that has lessons about America, and important documents in the citizenship process.
