After Tuesday's stock slide, lawmakers say they're already working to prevent a recession.

Congressman Bob Goodlatte says that both parties have been talking to the White House about an economic stimulus package.

Goodlatte says the package would include things such as lowering interest rates, of which there was announcement of one Tuesday morning.

He says many representatives are also working to create incentives for companies to get them to start investing in the economy now.

"That might cause some people who are planning on making some investments in the future to speed up those decisions and do that now. Therefore create more jobs, keeping our economy moving," says Goodlatte.

Goodlatte says a plan could be together within the next two weeks.
