The Augusta County Board of Supervisors is giving the nod to the County School Board to continue looking into moving its office from Fishersville to Verona.
In order for that move to happen, the county government center would have to expand, which could carry a high cost of $125 per square foot.
School officials say moving is necessary because they've been in temporary quarters for more than 50 years.
"I think if anybody were to come here and see how the floors are beginning to sink and how the wind whistles through here on a cold day, they'll understand pretty quickly that there needs to be opportunities here," says Superintendent Gary McQuain.
The cost of the expansion will be what will decide whether or not the move will be possible.
