Waynesboro Police have confirmed that an apartment fire over the weekend is arson. They initially suspected it was accidentally caused by a hot moped motor.

Police say they plan to charge a 17-year-old young man with starting the fire on Ivanhoe Avenue Sunday afternoon.

Fire officials estimate the damage at $150,000.

Virginia State Police helped with the investigation, which led to the arson charges.
