Players Bring Message to Kids

For more than 15 years, a group of former college and professional basketball players have stressed important messages to children across the country.

Thursday at Thomas Harrison Middle School in Harrisonburg, the Harlem Rockets paid a visit to more than 900 students.

The Rockets encouraged young people to stay in school, respect others and stay away from drugs.

Greg 'The Finisher' Wells says his motivation to help kids stemmed from his own experiences growing up in Los Angeles.

He says, "It's easier for me to be able to talk to students and kids because of my personal experiences and they can relate themselves. It's very very important to stay away from that activity because it can only lead you down destruction."

Wells and the Rockets played PTA members Thursday night in EMU's commons gym.
