Waynesboro City Council voted Monday night to spend an estimated $18 million on a wastewater treatment plant.

The money will go toward upgrades and an expansion of the plant, as well as funding the Oak Hill Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project.

Council members say the goal is to produce cleaner water in the Waynesboro area.
