Voting officials in Waynesboro report high numbers of voters turning out for Tuesday's primary.

At the Waynesboro public library, officials say the voters kept pouring in despite the unpleasant weather conditions outside.

In fact, officials say they were surprised by the number of voters that had come out by early in the afternoon.

Election official Andy Shifflett says, "It's been fairly steady. We're getting close to 500 and it's just a little before one, so it's been pretty good for a primary. Obviously primaries aren't as well attended as regular elections."
